Last Thursday, I met up with Ciarra, my grade school classmate and the brain (and hands) behind Sweets by Happy Mommy. It was a coincidence we're formerly classmates and that my other friend, who ordered our barkada's Christmas treats, are friends, too. What a small world! I and our other  friends are too pre-occupied with our own stuff, little did we know our "sisters" in KSA were already having something in the works. We're getting sweets! What each of us received was a box of a dozen blueberry cheesecake bites, baked by no one else but Ciarra. Soon as I got home, I took a bite of my share. Sweet, smooth, and heavenly are words to describe it. Don't you just love spontaneous moments? When you don't plan something out and suddenly pushes through, more than those you've prepared for? That's exactly the scene last night when my friend, out of the blue, sent me a message asking if I wanted to go food tripping. Imagine neighbors not seeing each other for weeks, and sometimes months, so of course I said yes. Still stuffed from the last meal I had, she asked what I was craving for and all I can think of was puto bumbong and bibingka. She, on the otherhand, wanted shawarma. The only place I know where there's shawarma is at the Rosario Complex strip, which is just a few meters away from our houses. Off we went towards Pacita to get my puto bumbong and bibingka fix, when we started talking about California Maki. We thought, "where in that area can we find maki?"   Being pissed off at work or anywhere, for that matter, doesn't do me any good these days because I end up splurging on nothing else but food. Last Thursday, I went out with one of my co-nurses at Festival Mall to shoo-away the bad vibes I had at work earlier that day. Prior to that, it's been one of our long-time plans to try out Japanese or Thai cuisine, but that time he didn't want anymore. We kept walking around and our lazy feet brought us to Sicylisimo. The green and yellow chairs and tables had me. Very cool ambience. We were both first-timers at this new place, so we looked on the menu and picked out what looked delish. I, being a cheese lover, instantly said yes to the call of Blue Buffalo Pizza and my partner-in-crime ordered Spaghetti Alla Bolognese. We asked for Brewed Iced Tea Pitcher, too. Last Monday, after lunch-ing out with my parents, I saw this kiosk of cupcakes that looked really inviting. I asked the lady what the best-seller is, and she immediately answered, "Red Velvet". Woooow. Exactly what I thought.   I remember reading about the Top 10 Red Velvet Cupcakes months ago and Sophie's Mom landed on the 8th spot! Look at their packaging. A simple box that houses one cupcake in pink and blue colors. How lovely! But nothing's lovelier than what's inside. This moist, dark red cupcake with thick cream cheese frosting just does the trick. The sourness of the cream cheese and the sweetness brought in by the cupcake itself can make anyone's day for real. Sold at Php 60 per piece, which is not bad at all. :) I seriously enjoyed every bite and will definitely try other flavors next time. My parents celebrated their 34th wedding anniversary last Monday, and our way to celebrate was through food at Sambo Kojin, located at the Food Center of SM Southmall in Las Pinas. I'm a huge fan of rolls/makis/sushis, sashimis and the like, so I started off with those. Lots of those. I also got a plateful of meat and seafood for grilling. Munching on my rolls while grilling. Before I head on to my next plate I was already feeling my stomach's expansion (I am not kidding!). Forgive me but I was not able to check out what the steamed thing I placed on my plate along with my miso soup was. It was white, soya-ish with crab stick slice and other meat. I am currently in Singapore and it is by boredom that I'm doing this post. I've been here for a few weeks and so far, this thing called boredom is doing its thing and is actually getting into me at times. What I did this week to keep up was go to Giant and took a taste test of the beers in Singapore... Only to be told by a friend that they aren't only locally available here but in the Philippines as well. Last Saturday evening, I remember to have stocked on this one called Guinness Foreign Extra as recommended by a new friend. Contained in a black "stout" can, I'm just not sure how many ml there was. The beer itself was sort of thick, dark brown and so far the most bitter-tasting I've had. I honestly do not know how I managed to finish my can of it. No more next time for this brand. On Tuesday, I asked for another recommendation from a friend who's based here in Sg and she said I might like Tiger Lager Beer better. Before anything else, I goog...

After jogging this evening, my friends and I decided to eat "healthy" so as to keep up with the goal. First suggestion was Ilocano-style empanada, but we thought it was too oily. Therefore, an X. Then we opted for sandwich, and one of my girls wanted one from Kenny's. Got myself a California Chicken Wrap. It's basically like your typical sandwich, only wrapped in an 8-inch pita bread stuffed with veggies, mangoes and chicken. What I liked about it was the generous serving of chicken, plus the perfect combination of everything inside. Only at 100 php. Made a great choice! :)   * Super late post.
