Before anything else, let me just say belated happy mother's day to all moms out there. :) I hope everyone had their fair share of joy on their special day. Last Sunday, my family went out for dinner at Max's Pacita for a simple celebration. We had to wait a few minutes to get in since the place was filled with many customers that night. The crew were all very busy, but made sure they accommodate every guest's requests. They were extra courteous, too. (extra tip, huh) Our primary server was Walter. I ordered mushroom soup and fresh lumpia for myself, while there was pansit canton, spring chicken and crispy pata for sharing. Since the first time I tasted cream puffs from Tacloban, I had this thinking that all of them tastes the same, regardless where they come from. As a foodie, it takes a lot of taste-testing before I can finally get to a conclusion that this is better than that.  And so the war of cream puffs begin. From where I'm from, it's seldom that I find these yummy little puffs. I have to travel somewhere in Makati to find decent ones, all different from the sweet ones I got as pasalubong from a former colleague. On a visit to Paseo Center, it was great to find a stall that has it. I just found its name weird : HAPPY CREAM PUFF. Oh well, maybe there's something in it that makes it a happy food.  For as cheap as P20 each, you'll get to try it yourself. Not too sweet as other brands, and yes, creamy. Tia Maria's has always been known for its Mexican-themed dishes, and because we wanted something new, we checked it out for ourselves. We were about to order when one of the crew went up to us and offered the Tia Maria's Mexicard. It's like a privilege card, giving a certain percentage of discount and a platter of Tia's Sampler Jr. We saw how bountiful the serving was, so we immediately agreed to get one. Here's a list of what we had : Soup :) + Twining's hot tea Half Slab Baby Back Ribs w/ buttered corn kernels and nachos and, our complimentary Tia's Sampler Jr. Yummmm! I had this sudden craving for real burgers and the only thing I have thought of last weekend was Brothers Burger. We were supposed to hang out at the Nuvali branch, but we took the way Northbound to Alabang. There was no particular kind of burger in my mind, just something authentic. While in line I thought of just getting Big Brothers burger (1/2 pound patty!!) with cheese and bacon. Plus, fries and lemonade! For our anniversary, the original plan was to go to Makati Shang's Circles, but a day before the schedule, that bus explosion happened which led me to just cancel and try out something else somewhere closer. I gave the boyfriend the call to choose which resto he prefers... A few minutes later he came up with an answer -- Italianni's! We met up a little past 7 and headed to the place. All staff were dressed up well. Many of the ladies were in fact, pretty. Looking at the menu made me think that it doesn't make that much difference to typical "pizza parlors" in the metro. But we opted to have rice instead of their usual pizzas and pastas. Soup would always be part of our meals. We chose the soup of the day which was Mushroom soup (in bowl). I always look forward to family dinners, especially when it's for a special occasion. This time, there's not much of a "big" celebration, but more of just a random night out with all four of us, plus my sister-in-law. As a family, this was our first time together at Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, so we had to walk around to find something decent and new. We walked by this restaurant called Crisostomo, and thought of giving it a shot. What actually got me into deciding to just dine in here was their frozen Brazo de Mercedes. But let me go further on that as we go along. We ordered Sinigang na Baka, Tortang Talong Pie, Kalderetang Kambing, Tortang Alimango, Seafood Kare-Kare, and Kangkong w/ Lechon. I know what you're thinking, we're not on a feast. Dinners are always special when shared with loved ones. Not only that it strengthens the bond, but strengthens the bond through what we love to do in common - eating. This time, it is in preparation for something good that my brother thought of bringing us to Tagaytay for a more special, intimate family dinner.Where else but Leslie's?!  This place has always been known for their savory bulalo soup, perfect for the cool weather. Not to mention the dramatic scenery of Taal Volcano, during daytime. It was surprising that even during a week night, Leslie's was full of customers, making it hard for the staff to notice other guests coming in. On that note, we had to wait no less than 5 minutes before being served with a menu and another 10-15 minutes for someone to pick up our orders. I guess that's a tip that if you're hungry enough to travel to Tagaytay, it is a must that you have a few snacks, or even candies that may aid in making you...
