Chocolate Fiiire

To celebrate our 7th anniversary, my boyfriend decided to take me out on a dinner at Chocolate Fire in Makati. I've worked somewhere in the area but never heard of it until he told me about it. We ordered Soup of the Day (Mushroom Soup), Napolitana in Fetuccine noodles, Sausage with Mashed Potato, Butterfly Iced Tea (why butterfly? I honestly don't know) and some additional Garlic Bread. The place was dimmed everywhere making it too cozy. We stayed at the second level to enjoy a more laid back ambiance. A few minutes after, our orders came one by one... Mushroom soup wasn't as creamy as I wanted it to be. Napolitana (pasta) was served with a slice of bread and butter, and had thick tomato-based sauce. I wish there was something meat in it and that I should've opted for spaghetti instead of Fetuccine. Oh well... Sausage was yummy with mustard and mashed potato. Slightly pricey, though. Garlic bread was too toasted that made it difficult to bite later on.   ...

Burger Hour @ Brothers

As a thanksgiving treat, Brothers Burger gave away our favorite burgers at half the price. This promo was unknown to me, but luckily, we were able to take part of it when we dropped by their Westgate branch last November. This went on from November 14th to the 30th, 2pm til 6pm. Blue cheese was perfect with the burger. I love!! Don't we just love food promos? :) * this is a super late post. sorry. *

TOSH Part 1

We've been all around Festival Mall and we were thinking of eating somewhere we've not dined in before. We were hungry anyway, so we settled with The Old Spaghetti House instead. Practicumers welcomed us and directed us to our table. One of them handed us the menu and gave us great food choices. And so we ordered Appetizer Basket, Chicken Tequila Pizza, Brewed Coffee and Vanilla Milkshake. It took them around 5-10 minutes before the Appetizer Basket was served. It consisted of Calamares, Chicken Fingers and Onion Rings and a dip. Then came the rest of what we ordered. Everything was oily. The chicken fingers in the basket tasted like fish and so all the while I was confused. It was good, though. But like I said, it invites a lot of bad cholesterol. Appetizer Basket, Php 210 Chicken Tequila Pizza, Php 245 Vanilla Milkshake, Php 90; Brewed Coffee Php 60 Pizza was thinly crusted, oblong in size, 8 slices and what's good about it is that I almost didn...

Dayrit's Burger & Roastbeef House

On to another food venture. Where else, but Dayrit's.   I've heard of the business name a few times before and saw one branch at The Fort but never really got the opportunity to personally dine in and try out their specialty - Roast Beef. Roast Beef Plate, Php 300 Upon entering the establishment, I noticed mature faces of the crew, both males and females. Quite unusual 'cause we are all used to seeing young service people especially at restaurants and fastfoods here in Manila. Anyway, we were given menus for reference as soon as we were seated. Initial orders were Roast Beef and mango juice. I asked if one order would be enough for two people and got "yes" for an answer. I just went to the washroom and when I came back, our foods were served. True enough that one order may be shared by about two people because a plateful of it includes baked potato topped w/ cheese and bacon bits, vegetable or bread/rice. We chose rice over bread. Beef was ...

Shakey's Pacita Experience

This is a rant on our recent Shakey's dining. Last night, the boyfriend and I, together with our dog, decided to eat at Shakey's Pacita since it's the ONLY animal-friendly establishment in our area. We've been there before with our pet and did not encounter any problem. Like what we usually do, we stayed at the veranda area. We were already seated, have placed our orders, just waiting for our food to arrive until we realized it was too dusty outside. We politely asked if we can move in (specifically at the closest table to the door) because of the situation. The crew who was accommodating us, Warren, found a seat by the window and told us to just stay there. Minutes later, he approached us again and reminded us that they cannot let us stay inside with the dog and if we would allow it, we can leave him where we first stayed. Hell no! We refused and told them our orders will be for take-out instead. What was upsetting on the boyfriend's part was how the manager...

Bag of Beans

We've been to Bag of Beans (almost near Batangas) twice before and this is the first time we're trying out what's in store for breakfast. And, at a new venue. The place was relaxing, and the new location was way too easy to drive to especially if you are looking for that quick escape from the city (oh yes, Tagaytay is a city, too! Silly me... But you guys know what I'm talking about, right? ;)).  They have a long list to choose from. From burgers, pastas, chips, pancakes to rice meals. What perfect way to make a travel here more laid-back is by having coffee. Brewed Coffee, Php 95 Iced Caffe Mocha, Php 110   We were scheduled for an outreach/medical mission at a nearby orphanage that's why we thought of having something heavy.  Sort of a brunch. Chicken Tocino, Php 195 Two eggs cooked just the way I lurve it, CUPful of garlic fried rice, atchara , and edible tomatoes and cucumbers as decoration! The viand was much more ...

Yakimix Part 2 :)

I cannot say "no" to Yakimix, or any buffet, to be honest. That is even if I know that I wouldn't be able to take part of all that's laid on the buffet table. It excites me to see different kinds of food. And in this case, the thrill of grilling and having to wait a few minutes till you actually get to take a bite. Is it just me? :) I know many of you would complain about the golden price of more than five hundred pesos, but I'd like to think it's worth it. If you do not agree, look for other places like this with a lower price, then let me know so we can both judge and compare. I wouldn't argue. Someday I'll be rich and afford to have more rounds! I shall return.
