Heard about the Food Adventure on the news two weeks ago and last Saturday afternoon, off we went to McKinley Hill to personally experience it. When you get to the venue, at the lobby, you will be welcomed by a representative to whom you can get tickets. Once you pay Php 600 (for one person only), you will be given a food passport and  identification bands for Saturday and Sunday.  Then you may start going around, your choice where you want your adventure to begin.  First restaurant : Pho Hoa Pomelo Salad Not only does this look so appealing, but filling, as well! :) Second : KBop Chapchae Vegetable and Seafood Pancake These pancakes taste better than they look like in this picture. :)  Third : Little Asia Shrimp Curls There are supposed to be six curls... We were at Festival Mall earlier this evening to have dinner and because we cannot go on a buffet or find oysters that I'm craving for, we looked further and found a new place. Seems like the owner/s have merged these restos into one, I didn't ask so I'm still confused. :D We ordered Pho without Meat, Fresh Spring Rolls,Vermicelli Bowl and Fishbowl Iced Tea. The soup was our practical choice to have at least something without meat. It came with bean sprouts and lemon. We were told it's supposed to come with basil, too, but it wasn't available. It, in itself, was already filling and a small size may be shared by 2 or even 3 people. Pho without Meat, Php 142 bean sprouts and lemon Fresh Spring Rolls are love. I remember my Makati days when I'd drop by the Salcedo Park on Saturdays and get my spring roll fix from a Vietnamese lady. As an advanced Valentine's day treat, we traveled from the South to the North to (supposed to be) witness the Hot Air Balloon Festival. Apparently, we arrived so late we weren't able to catch the early setup. We took a tour of Clark anyway, took pictures here and there and shopped a little at Duty Free. Call it ignorance but I really never knew beforehand that there are different Duty Free stores in Clark. Maybe I'm just used to seeing/hearing/going to the one we have in Manila and other airports. Was able to score some food finds that I'm really not sure if locally available. As of this writing, the only thing I've used/cooked is the corn bread muffin mixture but sad to say, I didn't like it. Tasted so weird, and I promise never to buy that brand again. :( What's your favorite Duty Free grocery item?

On our way back to NLEX, we decided to have something that's not fast food. Since we're "Southeners", we opted for "native" dishes from Pampanga. We noticed cars lined up at the parking lot and thought maybe that's what were looking for, inspite of the "catchy" name. While in the car, the first thing that came in my mind was maybe they serve horses such as tapang kabayo on their menu... I hesitated because I do not eat anything exotic. Second, that it may not be an animal-friendly establishment which could be a big problem 'cause we're traveling with our dog. My boyfriend inquired first so he walked back with a couple of good news - first, that they (the owners) love their horses so much that they cannot afford to kill them (and eat them!). I am loving the South even more because of the many establishments sprouting like mushrooms, especially in the Sta. Rosa area. Just this evening, we walked along Paseo de Sta. Rosa and dined in at the Kanin Club. I've read a few things about this place, which made me really excited to get some first-hand experience. Seafood Kare Kare, Php 267 Seafood Kare-kare, Tom Yum Goong and Fried Rice were out bets. Kare-kare was delicious. This is a biased judgment since I'm a hardcore kare-kare fan... This is a switch, though, from my original love which is its beef counterpart. It had more mussels in it than other kinds of seafood. I do not eat mussels so I concentrated on squid and veggies instead. There were a few shrimp pieces but too few to count. It's savory, too, even without the help of bagoong . Tom Yum, Php 326 Tom Yum soup consisted of seafoods, mushrooms and spices. It was honestly my first time to try it and loved it. Fried rice was in itself, filling. It...

To celebrate our 7th anniversary, my boyfriend decided to take me out on a dinner at Chocolate Fire in Makati. I've worked somewhere in the area but never heard of it until he told me about it. We ordered Soup of the Day (Mushroom Soup), Napolitana in Fetuccine noodles, Sausage with Mashed Potato, Butterfly Iced Tea (why butterfly? I honestly don't know) and some additional Garlic Bread. The place was dimmed everywhere making it too cozy. We stayed at the second level to enjoy a more laid back ambiance. A few minutes after, our orders came one by one... Mushroom soup wasn't as creamy as I wanted it to be. Napolitana (pasta) was served with a slice of bread and butter, and had thick tomato-based sauce. I wish there was something meat in it and that I should've opted for spaghetti instead of Fetuccine. Oh well... Sausage was yummy with mustard and mashed potato. Slightly pricey, though. Garlic bread was too toasted that made it difficult to bite later on.   ...

As a thanksgiving treat, Brothers Burger gave away our favorite burgers at half the price. This promo was unknown to me, but luckily, we were able to take part of it when we dropped by their Westgate branch last November. This went on from November 14th to the 30th, 2pm til 6pm. Blue cheese was perfect with the burger. I love!! Don't we just love food promos? :) * this is a super late post. sorry. *
