Classic Savory

A long time ago, there's been a debate that ran in the family as to the correct pronunciation of the name of this restaurant. Even waiters and waitresses would have different ways of saying it, so it gets me more confused. But forget about that. Last Sunday, before heading to Cartimar, we stopped by Cash and Carry Mall in Makati. We walked around a bit to check out something to eat for lunch. It was noon time, but fortunately there were still a lot of available seats. We were guided to take the stairs and settled at the second level. As soon as we're seated, we were handed menus so we can take a pick of what we wanted. Here's what we had : Nido Soup w/ Quail Eggs, php 195 This, and that picture below + rice is called Combo C4, php 385 Combo C4 is a platter of 1/2 Chicken, Pancit Canton, Salt and Pepper Squid, Rice, Turon and Tropical Cooler. Tropical Cooler I love soups. I think I already mentioned

Max's Chicken All-You-Can

The first time I heard it's back was music to my ears. I told my mom but we ended up not going, so the next step was the boyfriend. Went to Max's a few minutes before 7pm, ready for the oily treat! The lady crew approached our table to get our orders. 2 Chicken-all-you-can, Mushroom soup, Beef Cabbage Soup (soup of the day) and rice. 1st serving, quarter-sized chicken Cream of Mushroom soup, Php 59 I don't know why, but I couldn't resist mushroom soup. Anywhere I go, when I see it on the menu, that's the one I pick out of many others.  Max's mushroom soup isn't really savory. In fact it's (somewhat) bland in taste and malabnaw . But I appreciate it's creaminess, I wonder if it has milk in it. (Upon re-checking the receipt, it's actually "cream" of mushroom soup, that's why) 2nd serving   money coupons for every Php 200 purchase the bill :D We

Amber's Pichi-Pichi & Pansit Malabon

This entire blog wouldn't reach as many hits if not for my first post on Amber's (thanks!!). Last week, as I was browsing my Facebook page, I saw a friend's status message saying she's having something from Amber's. That started it all.  My love for pichi-pichi and Pansit Malabon has always been an open secret. It's just unfortunate that I have not tasted these foods for a while, so I called the nearest branch in Muntinlupa and placed my orders : 1 small bilao of Pansit Malabon, 10 pieces pichi-pichi with niyog and 20 pieces with cheese. Pichi-pichi w/ niyog, php 4/pc. Pansit Malabon (smallest size), php 300 Over the years, I noticed that Amber's foods did not change its quality. If it did, it probably have been on the better side that's why more and more customers are coming back. Oh, let me point out my only rant : for the past years that we've been patronizing Amber's, I noticed that pichi-p

John and Yoko

Cosmopolitan Japanese seat design On a random Saturday night, I craved for something salty and maki. And since we were in the Makati area, we thought of going back to John and Yoko. What I love from these Marvin Agustin restos (including Sumo Sam) is the California roll. Couldn't trade it with any others'. Love it with lots of crab meat on top. California roll Sunset Prawn Salad Wagyu Rice, Chicken Teriyaki Maki and salad were served first, so before everything else arrived, I was already half-filled. It's my first time to try their prawn salad. Presentation was good. But in terms of taste, there's nothing to be too happy about. Rice seemed heavy so I took just a portion of it with chicken. I also ordered Green-colored iced tea, too, which is actually iced tea in Green Tea flavor. Honestly, aside from the rolls, I didn't find anything to look forward to from this "Japanese-in

KFC Double Down

I have long been intrigued of this double chicken patty served at KFC. And not too long ago, I thought it was a burger having two patties inside it. I was ultimately wrong. Others would love to order an extra rice and take one of the chicken filling. But I ate it like a burger, and then this bitin feeling came right after.   Not a good try. Felt like my Mama's php 115 was not put on a good investment. Oh wellllll.

Don Henrico's

As I was wanting some *abnormally large* buffalo wings, I thought of Don Henrico's. So off we went to its Festival Mall branch, checked out what's on the menu and found these... Clam Chowder Soup, php 75 Chili Garlic Shrimp in Olive Oil, php 260 Don Henrico's Chicken ala Buffalo, php 370 The soup was a bit too sour, but makes a better tandem with the crackers. Pasta was sooo yummy, I couldn't taste the spice of the chili. And DH's Chicken ala Buffalo is the best. Compliments so well with the sauce.  Click here for branches, menu and other info :  Don Henrico's
