YakiMix

What a good way to celebrate 3 celebrations in 1 is through a buffet. As a family, we usually end up dining at Dampa for any family occasion. This time, my brother thought of bringing me and our folks somewhere different, something we've not tried in a long time. Being the South people that we are, we conquered holiday traffic just so we could venture into something new. When we got there, the place was so filled, we got a #20 in queue. And we literally had to wait more than an hour and a half just to get in. Whoever thought of serving free iced tea while waiting outside was a cool idea, huh.   The super long wait was worth it. I was overwhelmed seeing everything on the buffet area. I took a few portions of each food on my first round. All these just in Round 1 We all had for-share servings of foods to be grilled so I was not able to make a Round 2. Everything was filling. Bottomless iced tea in blue color

CaliforniaBerry

Froyo craze has gone out so fast that every corner in the metro has a kiosk (or two) of these yummy yogurts! We were at Festival mall last Sunday when we decided to try this new line of froyos (frozen yogurts) called California Berry. It's intriguing because it's said to be low in calories. How? So we dropped by the branch located at the 3rd floor, just below the cinema area to finally give the verdict. Like other frozen yogurts, there's a wide variety of toppings you can choose from : crackers, fruits, marshmallows, candies, rice crispies... Name it, they have it. For the smallest cup, it will cost you P65; P85 for a regular; and P115 for the large cup. They also have standard sets of toppings, like what I ordered -- California Berry Special (mixture of mangoes, strawberries and kiwi) at P115 for a medium cup and P145 for large. What I liked about it is its smoothness and creaminess. The sourness is just right. Really a thu

DIET 101

I'm currently on the process of mending a broken heart since I realized, just two nights ago how much I grew bigg er . And it's weird, having people around who are constantly reminding me of this, but don't seem to mind. It's heartbreaking not being able to eat ALL the foods I want, specifically RICE. It was just then I thought I needed to SERIOUSLY  do something to save myself from this thing called "being overweight." And though I know how huge of a rice-eater I am, I'm here, trying. I had to be out for two consecutive days so I got to resist the home-cooked foods I love. On the first night, I had a plateful of Kenny Rogers' healthy vegetable meal. Yes, I love vegetable salads, but knowing for what purpose I was having it made me feel sad. But it's for a better me, so why... NOT?! The next day, I didn't want to feel so deprived of carbs so I thought of going to KFC for some Go-go sandwich. It's incredibly good,

White Hat Yogurt

One of my latest food discoveries is frozen yogurt. And I'm one of those who craves for it every so often... I've tried another branc, but this, I like better. As usual, with my favorite topping mango, it's sweeter and yummier. Also it compliments so well with my new favorite topping, kiwi. Branches (updated) : SM MOA, Rob. Zong

For Papa's birthday last week, Kuya thought of bringing the family to a resto somewhere in Alabang for dinner. Too bad, that day's traffic situation northbound was so bad we decided to just hit on the south. Hot Prawn Salad It was all of us' first time so we picked most of which we are familiar with: Yang Chow rice -- big serving, good for about 3-4 people; Broccoli Flower with Prawn -- halfly-cooked and "prawns" are prawns.  :) ; Hot Prawn Salad = love. Mom and I enjoyed it big time!; Wonton Soup; Fish Fillet in Soy Sauce; Roast Combination Platter, which consisted of a ssorted roasted meats of suckling pig, duck, chicken and pork served with jellyfish and century egg . Jellyfish tasted weird to me, though. The foods were overwhelming. Too much for a small group of 4. I'd have to say everything was delicious, but let me also say that they're just a step more special than the other Chinese restos I've been to. The place wasn't to

Red Mango

I am a lover of yogurts, especially when it's super cold and frozen. The first time I heard that "frozen yogurts" actually exist, I instantly got intrigued. It took many months before I got to try it for myself. And guess where? At RED MANGO! Got the original yogurt with two of my favorite fruits as toppings-- mangoes and strawberries. Almost like ice cream, except for the sourness of the yogurt, blending so well with the sweetness of the mangoes. Yummmmm!! More to try next time!
