Bake & Churn Ice Cream Cakes

My brother must have been very delighted with his first slice of this cake that he immediately told us about it. On Christmas eve, he went home with a box of Black Forest. Yum! You may think I'm kidding for introducing you to such thing, but it truly exists. It's from Bake and Churn, a store that recently opened its franchise at a car wash in Chrysanthemum Village, San Pedro, Laguna. What's good about it is that it's not too sweet. But because it's ice cream and cake combined, be ready for the calories! If you're on a diet, you may feel so sinful yet wouldn't think about dropping your fork either. I have yet to find out the other flavors and prices. Will update soon.

Shakey's Glorietta

My day started well. The whole time I was in the office, I felt like it was not "work" at all. Free food from Clarice, to add to that. Going home, I and Dolly passed by the usual route -- Landmark, heading towards SM Makati. But while we were inside Glorietta, we had the urge to eat so we dropped by Shakey's. One crew took our orders and told us to wait for 15 minutes. For someone in hypoglycemic mode, 15 minutes is 15-golden-minutes! So as not to feel the time, we chatted about other stuff, office-related. But time seemed so slow that we (more on I, actually) started looking at each table, checking up on others' meals. My tummy went wild! 15 minutes became more-than-15-minutes. When the people on the other table left, we moved. I asked another crew to give me bottomless iced tea. That moment I was already impatient and I was badly needing something to compensate for my hunger. Guess what? The food came roughly around 5 minutes, but the iced tea's not s

Barbara's Restaurant

Yesterday was my newest godchild's, christening. Ceremony started 10 AM but due to my responsibilities at work, I couldn't leave the office till 1 PM. It was held at Barbara's Restaurant in Intramuros (Manila). I came earlier than my friend, so I waited a few minutes by the doorstep of the resto. When he finally appeared, we went together to the second floor where the reception was held. The place was vintage, yet the ambiance was peaceful, and traditionally Spanish-y. We met our friend's girlfriend, Mavie, the mommy of our inaanak . She told us to first leave our things on our seats so we could head onto the buffet table. Round one : I had some serving of their dry fettucine pasta (So dry that I totally forgot what it was!). There also was their chicken barbecue, unsure if it was named something else, but it's good! It's probably marinated well that the whole chicken absorbed its light sweetness (Up to this time, I could still feel m

What Happened to Jollibee's Chicken Joy?

I was so hungry yesterday that I couldn't think of a better place to dine in after work. So I headed to Jollibee. It was a Sunday, and it's the closest I can afford to go to, aside from 7-11 and Mini-stop. I ordered Creamy Macaroni Soup because I am craving for something hot. I aked the crew if there was available thigh part for the chicken joy. Unfortunately, there's none. Because I felt like there's nothing more filling than rice and something else, I ordered the (in)famous chickenjoy, even if it's not the specific part I wanted. When it was served, it looked horrible. Not even a kid would want just that. It's small and dry . You might even think it's "pangat" (pangatlong prito, or something like that). So I asked again if they can replace it with the wing part. Yes, but in 15 minutes. Let's just say that I was on "crave mode" so I patiently agreed. 15 minutes, it is. After 5 minutes or so, while savoring

John and Yoko, Greenbelt 5

On my last birthday, my boyfriend picked me up at the office after work to eat. We then proceeded to Greenbelt, as I was always wanting to try John and Yoko. The waitresses were accommodating enough to give us a seat, but due to the fact that we came at lunch time, we were given a place that's next to the kitchen, where almost (if not) all the servers pass by. We were given menus and ordered for what we thought we can finish. We were busy taking pics when the California maki salad and iced tea (calamansi flavor) were served. The salad was filled with lettuce, crabmeat, few sweet mango bits, and dressing. I'd say it's good, but really nothing to rave so much about. Next thing that came was tofu miso soup. It's very similar to that of Sumo Sam, and I must tell you that it is by far the best tofu soup that I liked. Their all-meat rice (which, the waitress said was one and a half) was more than enough for two hungry people, leaving our Japanese rice untouched. I lo
