Children's Party, Coffee and Noodles

Hi everyone! I've been "busy" the past months, and though I've been meaning to write, it's like something's taking hold of my drive to write again. Okay, truth is, I'm caught in between busy and lazy that's why I was unable to update this blog. Anyhooo, I'm back to share about the most recent happenings. Yesterday was the birthday celebration of one of my High School friends' daughter. Off we went to Las Villas de Manila Clubhouse in Southwoods to take part in the Doc McStuffins-themed event hosted by Ms. Amor Fernandez. In all fairness, she was good. Not only did she do the hosting and balloon twisting, she's a ventriloquist and a magician, too. She was able to catch everyone's attention by her spontaneity. Desserts table was a hit. Same goes with the cotton candy and ice cream stations. Aside from the meals prepared, snack booths for fries, nachos, mini burgers were there the whole time as well. Kids surely had a great time, lik...

My Thai/Pho Hoa/Jack's Loft

We were at Festival Mall earlier this evening to have dinner and because we cannot go on a buffet or find oysters that I'm craving for, we looked further and found a new place. Seems like the owner/s have merged these restos into one, I didn't ask so I'm still confused. :D We ordered Pho without Meat, Fresh Spring Rolls,Vermicelli Bowl and Fishbowl Iced Tea. The soup was our practical choice to have at least something without meat. It came with bean sprouts and lemon. We were told it's supposed to come with basil, too, but it wasn't available. It, in itself, was already filling and a small size may be shared by 2 or even 3 people. Pho without Meat, Php 142 bean sprouts and lemon Fresh Spring Rolls are love. I remember my Makati days when I'd drop by the Salcedo Park on Saturdays and get my spring roll fix from a Vietnamese lady. These rolls, however, consisted of more noodles and veggies, and peanut sauce to dip it. It's absolutely good and ...

Kanin Club

I am loving the South even more because of the many establishments sprouting like mushrooms, especially in the Sta. Rosa area. Just this evening, we walked along Paseo de Sta. Rosa and dined in at the Kanin Club. I've read a few things about this place, which made me really excited to get some first-hand experience. Seafood Kare Kare, Php 267 Seafood Kare-kare, Tom Yum Goong and Fried Rice were out bets. Kare-kare was delicious. This is a biased judgment since I'm a hardcore kare-kare fan... This is a switch, though, from my original love which is its beef counterpart. It had more mussels in it than other kinds of seafood. I do not eat mussels so I concentrated on squid and veggies instead. There were a few shrimp pieces but too few to count. It's savory, too, even without the help of bagoong . Tom Yum, Php 326 Tom Yum soup consisted of seafoods, mushrooms and spices. It was honestly my first time to try it and loved it. Fried rice was in itself, filling. It...

Sizzzzzzlin' Pepper Steak

We're on another food adventure and decided to, again, try a new place.  This thing works by flipping. Creamy Corn Soup :), Php 55 This is so far the best corn soup I've tasted. It has the authentic "corn" feel unlike the ones in foil packs that you only need to boil in water.   * Oyako Pepper Rice, Php 195 * Comes with a special sweet sauce * Pork Barbecue Pepper Rice, Php 185 It had to have that paper around it coz it's sizzling hot! Blueberry Cheesecake ice cream, Php 83 It not only looks entertaining, but tastes equally delicious as well. Thumbs up for blue ice cream! Overall, we had a great dining experience at Sizzlin' Pepper Steak. Foods were mouth-watering, only though, that I had a bit of "umay" factor with what I ordered (Oyako Pepper Rice). You can say it's because of the huge serving, the chi...

Classic Savory

A long time ago, there's been a debate that ran in the family as to the correct pronunciation of the name of this restaurant. Even waiters and waitresses would have different ways of saying it, so it gets me more confused. But forget about that. Last Sunday, before heading to Cartimar, we stopped by Cash and Carry Mall in Makati. We walked around a bit to check out something to eat for lunch. It was noon time, but fortunately there were still a lot of available seats. We were guided to take the stairs and settled at the second level. As soon as we're seated, we were handed menus so we can take a pick of what we wanted. Here's what we had : Nido Soup w/ Quail Eggs, php 195 This, and that picture below + rice is called Combo C4, php 385 Combo C4 is a platter of 1/2 Chicken, Pancit Canton, Salt and Pepper Squid, Rice, Turon and Tropical Cooler. Tropical Cooler I love soups. I think I already mentioned...

Max's Chicken All-You-Can

The first time I heard it's back was music to my ears. I told my mom but we ended up not going, so the next step was the boyfriend. Went to Max's a few minutes before 7pm, ready for the oily treat! The lady crew approached our table to get our orders. 2 Chicken-all-you-can, Mushroom soup, Beef Cabbage Soup (soup of the day) and rice. 1st serving, quarter-sized chicken Cream of Mushroom soup, Php 59 I don't know why, but I couldn't resist mushroom soup. Anywhere I go, when I see it on the menu, that's the one I pick out of many others.  Max's mushroom soup isn't really savory. In fact it's (somewhat) bland in taste and malabnaw . But I appreciate it's creaminess, I wonder if it has milk in it. (Upon re-checking the receipt, it's actually "cream" of mushroom soup, that's why) 2nd serving   money coupons for every Php 200 purchase the bill :D We...

Don Henrico's

As I was wanting some *abnormally large* buffalo wings, I thought of Don Henrico's. So off we went to its Festival Mall branch, checked out what's on the menu and found these... Clam Chowder Soup, php 75 Chili Garlic Shrimp in Olive Oil, php 260 Don Henrico's Chicken ala Buffalo, php 370 The soup was a bit too sour, but makes a better tandem with the crackers. Pasta was sooo yummy, I couldn't taste the spice of the chili. And DH's Chicken ala Buffalo is the best. Compliments so well with the sauce.  Click here for branches, menu and other info :  Don Henrico's

Mother's Day @ Max's

Before anything else, let me just say belated happy mother's day to all moms out there. :) I hope everyone had their fair share of joy on their special day. Last Sunday, my family went out for dinner at Max's Pacita for a simple celebration. We had to wait a few minutes to get in since the place was filled with many customers that night. The crew were all very busy, but made sure they accommodate every guest's requests. They were extra courteous, too. (extra tip, huh) Our primary server was Walter. I ordered mushroom soup and fresh lumpia for myself, while there was pansit canton, spring chicken and crispy pata for sharing. Bottomless iced tea was part of our orders, too.   Mushroom Soup Fresh Lumpia Pansit Canton Fried Chicken Crispy Pata Bottomless Iced Tea It didn't take much time for our orders to arrive. And so the food tasting began... Yayyy. We were to...

Going Italian.

For our anniversary, the original plan was to go to Makati Shang's Circles, but a day before the schedule, that bus explosion happened which led me to just cancel and try out something else somewhere closer. I gave the boyfriend the call to choose which resto he prefers... A few minutes later he came up with an answer -- Italianni's! We met up a little past 7 and headed to the place. All staff were dressed up well. Many of the ladies were in fact, pretty. Looking at the menu made me think that it doesn't make that much difference to typical "pizza parlors" in the metro. But we opted to have rice instead of their usual pizzas and pastas. Soup would always be part of our meals. We chose the soup of the day which was Mushroom soup (in bowl). Herb Roasted Spring Chicken, Crab Salad Apetito and additional steamed rice, thinking our original orders wouldn't suffice. I wanted to try their malt shake, too, so I got Blueberry malt sh...
