Pasta, Wings and Balls at Aveneto

Merely by saying "Aveneto" in my head makes me smile and want to go back. Last week was a draining week. Work and training happened side by side on most days and I couldn't help but feel really tired. On the last day of training last Saturday, me and my good (food) buddy, Trina, had to let out the stress and make time for a perfect food adventure. It was planned. Days before we even finished training, we've already spoken about where to eat and which ones to order. Here's what we had : Nut Pesto with Chicken, P275 Nut Pesto is a personal favorite. I made Trina taste it because I know she'll enjoy it like I do. It's your typical spaghetti noodles in basil, oil and nut topped with chicken strips. Love! :) Serving is good for about 2-3 people. Chicken Wings, P175 We're supposed to order buffalo wings, but unfortunately they're not available anymore according to the waiter at the Glorietta branch. Trina claims, though, they still have...

Pizza and Pasta Love

Being pissed off at work or anywhere, for that matter, doesn't do me any good these days because I end up splurging on nothing else but food. Last Thursday, I went out with one of my co-nurses at Festival Mall to shoo-away the bad vibes I had at work earlier that day. Prior to that, it's been one of our long-time plans to try out Japanese or Thai cuisine, but that time he didn't want anymore. We kept walking around and our lazy feet brought us to Sicylisimo. The green and yellow chairs and tables had me. Very cool ambience. We were both first-timers at this new place, so we looked on the menu and picked out what looked delish. I, being a cheese lover, instantly said yes to the call of Blue Buffalo Pizza and my partner-in-crime ordered Spaghetti Alla Bolognese. We asked for Brewed Iced Tea Pitcher, too. During the wait, someone walked by our table and placed a basket of thinly sliced crispy bread sticks. This made the wait worthwhile.   Then the pizza arriv...

Chocolate Fiiire

To celebrate our 7th anniversary, my boyfriend decided to take me out on a dinner at Chocolate Fire in Makati. I've worked somewhere in the area but never heard of it until he told me about it. We ordered Soup of the Day (Mushroom Soup), Napolitana in Fetuccine noodles, Sausage with Mashed Potato, Butterfly Iced Tea (why butterfly? I honestly don't know) and some additional Garlic Bread. The place was dimmed everywhere making it too cozy. We stayed at the second level to enjoy a more laid back ambiance. A few minutes after, our orders came one by one... Mushroom soup wasn't as creamy as I wanted it to be. Napolitana (pasta) was served with a slice of bread and butter, and had thick tomato-based sauce. I wish there was something meat in it and that I should've opted for spaghetti instead of Fetuccine. Oh well... Sausage was yummy with mustard and mashed potato. Slightly pricey, though. Garlic bread was too toasted that made it difficult to bite later on.   ...

Aveneto Pizzeria Ristorante

I was on my way to Makati from QC when I had a feeling that was so hard to resist. I remembered how much I wanted to eat again at Aveneto, so I made way to visit. During my high times as a "Makati Girl", I used to frequent the place. And since I left my former office, I didn't have the chance to go back. What I truly missed ordering was their pesto pasta, regardless if it's plain, with chicken or whatever. As soon as the waiter came to ask for my orders, I immediately came up with these : bottomless lemonade, Php 80 Cheddar Munchers, Php 160 I love cheese so much that everywhere I go, I'd settle for anything with it. These balls are breaded cheese with potato in it. So lovely paired with its special tomato dip. Nut Pesto with Chicken, Php 260 The scent of pesto makes me happy. I usually have this variety to divert from the usual tomato and cream-based pastas we do at home. Being alone didn't mean being sad....

Don Henrico's

As I was wanting some *abnormally large* buffalo wings, I thought of Don Henrico's. So off we went to its Festival Mall branch, checked out what's on the menu and found these... Clam Chowder Soup, php 75 Chili Garlic Shrimp in Olive Oil, php 260 Don Henrico's Chicken ala Buffalo, php 370 The soup was a bit too sour, but makes a better tandem with the crackers. Pasta was sooo yummy, I couldn't taste the spice of the chili. And DH's Chicken ala Buffalo is the best. Compliments so well with the sauce.  Click here for branches, menu and other info :  Don Henrico's

Brooklyn Pizza

Last week, while at Robinson's Place Manila, we checked out this place called Brooklyn Pizza. Like the usual, we asked the crew what their specialties are.Our server suggested the White Cheese pizza. And as a lover of dairy stuff, I didn't hesitate to try this out. For our pasta, we wanted something tomato-based, so we ordered Spicy Shrimp pasta, which didn't possess the spice that its name suggested. But let me redeem its title by saying that it wasn't so bad after all. In fact, I liked it, especially paired with their complimentary toasted bread. Another winner was BP's buffalo wings. The basket contained 8 pieces of it, and quite cheap for a price of less than P200. I believe the spice I wished was on the pasta was transferred to the wings because they're H-O-TTT! In a good way, though. Pasta + bread + wings + bottomless iced tea was so filling that our White Cheese pizza slice remained untouched. Ta...

Shakey's Glorietta

My day started well. The whole time I was in the office, I felt like it was not "work" at all. Free food from Clarice, to add to that. Going home, I and Dolly passed by the usual route -- Landmark, heading towards SM Makati. But while we were inside Glorietta, we had the urge to eat so we dropped by Shakey's. One crew took our orders and told us to wait for 15 minutes. For someone in hypoglycemic mode, 15 minutes is 15-golden-minutes! So as not to feel the time, we chatted about other stuff, office-related. But time seemed so slow that we (more on I, actually) started looking at each table, checking up on others' meals. My tummy went wild! 15 minutes became more-than-15-minutes. When the people on the other table left, we moved. I asked another crew to give me bottomless iced tea. That moment I was already impatient and I was badly needing something to compensate for my hunger. Guess what? The food came roughly around 5 minutes, but the iced tea's not s...
