Universal Bakery's Mamon & Ensaymada

You probably are from San Pedro (Laguna) or know or have relatives/friends from here if you've tried the fluffy mamon and yummy ensaymada from Universal Bakery - located at San Pedro National Highway and Pacita Commercial Complex.

This afternoon, I found myself craving for mamon again and was lucky enough to be already in the Pacita area so having what I wanted was easy.

Soon as I got to the house, I felt like ensaymada was calling me to have a take of its sweetness. True enough, it had me at first bite. What can go wrong with sugar, cream, cheese and bacon. Yes, you read it right, bacon! At 22 php,  you can NEVER ever go wrong with it.

After dinner, I tried to resist the temptation by not opening the fridge. But the thought that inside it are the sweets I love,I failed big time. Sorry, mamon. :( 17 php is still not a bad price especially that I know that it will give me what I truly deserve of it.

I've been away for a while and the only pasalubong I had for friends in Singapore are these mamon. It's flattering to receive compliments on something you put on their table and they say they'd love to get some of these again in the future.

Wonder why the Universal management isn't making their market bigger by going out to bigger cities. Hmm.
