El Chupacabra

It was last year when I first heard that one Filipino would have the chance to go to space and represent via Axe Apollo. When the winner was announced, I read his name on an online newspaper and read about him just out of curiosity. This led me to Chino Roque's Instagram account. At that point, I was clueless but too lazy to search if the account name means anything.

Recently, I saw a post of some celebrity dining in at El Chupacabra. That gave it away. El Chupacabra is a place. Little did I know that more than it being just a name of a restaurant, it is a mythical creature. Trivia, trivia. :)

Last Sunday, I got a message from a friend on Facebook inviting me to go on a food trip on the 25th, and I immediately agreed.

After work last night, we met up, rode a cab and got off at Felipe cor. Polaris St. In fairness, it wasn't hard to find. The place was so filled up, it was difficult to miss. We arrived 9pm-ish, but the bulk of people at the waiting list was quite a number, so we had to wait for about 30 minutes standing.

Others waiting for their turn to get seats ordered beer and that gave me the hint to do the same. Ice cold beer while at the waiting area was at 50 php.

Finally around 10pm we were provided seats and the food trip began. :)

Bowl of Chili con Carne and Tortilla Dipping Chips
We were not oriented about the serving size of this. It was served in large platter with a big bowl of chili con carne, side servings of sour cream, grated cheese and white onions. Too plenty for 2 people. The chips were corn-y (not corny. haha) and crunchy throughout our entire 2hrs+ stay.

Camarones ala Diabla
If you're into spicy stuff, go ahead and try out Camarones ala Diabla. Shrimp in your tacos is ♥, plus, it makes a great match with your ice cold beer. Tip : do not overdo your tacos with any of the sauces they serve so as not to lose its own flavor.

Vodka orange (?)
I totally forgot what this is, but everyone got this drink as a freebie and were instructed to take a shot as soon as the bell rings. Cool treat!

Lord of the Wings
This was recommended by one of the staff as a must-try. However, when this was served to us, it looked sad and unappealing. Also, this is very spicy. Haha.

Atomic Sauce

Sorry for the mess, but what I'd like to show is that sauce in orange, which they call the Atomic sauce. Imagine your regular hot sauce x3! Bad decision to have taken Gelo's dare to try it out.

Most of the staff were friendly and nice, made sure our requests were addressed right away.

Price was reasonable since many of the foods were for sharing. It would also be a good idea to bring more friends to cut the bill.:)

I'm definitely coming back again.
